Mermaids

What's actually in the Mermaids collection (30 pages)

This kawaii coloring page category brings together 30 designs built around the same character: a little mermaid with long, wavy hair, big expressive eyes, and a simple smile. From one page to the next, her hairstyle or accessory changes — sometimes she's holding a seashell, sometimes a starfish, and sometimes the starfish is tucked into her hair like a little clip. Her scaled tail always ends in a wide, fan-shaped fin, drawn with soft, generous curves rather than sharp detail.

Around her, every sheet is framed by a recurring set of ocean-themed extras: stars, hearts, flowers, round bubbles, sparkles, and little spiral swirls. These background details are what change the most from page to page, giving you 30 different compositions while keeping the same kawaii mermaid at the center of each sheet.

Who this collection is best suited for

This set works especially well for a younger audience, though not only.

• Beginners who are just starting to color, thanks to the large, easy-to-fill areas
• Kids and tweens who love cute characters with big eyes, typical of the kawaii style
• Adults looking for a calm, repetitive, almost meditative activity that doesn't demand precision
• Ocean and mermaid fans who want variety without ever coloring the exact same page twice

How to approach these pages

Kawaii art is easy to spot: bold outlines and large rounded shapes. Here, the hair, face, and tail form broad open areas rather than fine detail, so there's no need to stay perfectly inside tiny lines. A good approach is to start with the big shapes — hair and tail — before moving on to the small background elements, or the other way around: finish the stars and flowers first, then focus on the mermaid herself. The tail scales and hair strands both work nicely with a two- or three-tone gradient of the same color for a bit of depth without any technical difficulty.

What supplies work best

The large, open surfaces on these kawaii coloring pages pair well with certain tools.

• Broad-tip markers to fill big areas like the hair or tail quickly
• Pastel-toned colored pencils, matching the soft mood of the kawaii style
• Fine-tip markers saved for the small details: eyes, seashell, starfish
• Glitter or a white gel pen to make the bubbles and sparkles pop

Occasions to print these for

This printable kawaii coloring page fits plenty of moments: a mermaid or ocean-themed birthday party, a quiet after-school activity, a party favor bag, or just a rainy afternoon at home. Since the collection includes 30 pages, you can rotate through new sheets over several weeks without ever repeating the exact same design.

Frequently asked questions

What age is this mermaid coloring page suitable for?

Thanks to the large rounded shapes and bold outlines typical of kawaii style, these pages work well from around age 4-5. Younger kids can focus on the tail and hair, while older children can also tackle the smaller background details.

Do I need a fine-tip marker for the face?

It's not required, but a fine-tip marker makes it easier to work on the big eyes and the small starfish details, which are the most detailed parts of each sheet.

Are all 30 pages really different?

The main character, a kawaii mermaid, stays similar throughout, but her hairstyle, the accessory she's holding, and the background details (stars, hearts, flowers, bubbles, swirls) change on every sheet, giving you 30 distinct printable designs.

Is this coloring page free to print?

Yes, every design in the Mermaids collection is a free printable kawaii coloring page, available in high quality, ready to use at home or in the classroom.
